ADHD at work

At work, ADHD may make it harder to focus, stay organized or manage your time.21

If you have ADHD, you might find it hard to pay attention to small details at work. You may also notice that11,22

  • Tasks that are boring or repetitive might not hold your interest. 
  • Distractions might easily take your attention away.  
  • You may find it difficult to have good relationships with your coworkers.  
  • You might also find yourself forgetting things or deadlines. 

Knowing how ADHD may change the way you work may help you find resources or get support.23

It's important to think about what challenges you may experience at work so you can try to find solutions for them. 

  • Don't be afraid to speak up and ask for workplace accommodations to make your job easier. It could also be helpful to share your ADHD diagnosis with the Human Resources department or coworkers, so they can understand your needs and provide support.11 
  • If possible, take your time to choose a job that matches your strengths and interests.24 This way, you may have a better chance of achieving success and feeling fulfilled.24
